OUR MISSION

Our mission at the Alnour association is to provide social services to women with disabilities in Morocco. Women with physical disabilities have been excluded from participation in the workforce due to a lack of infrastructure and support. The association is working to change this by providing special needs transportation, health care benefits, and childcare. This enables women to participate in employment opportunities from which they would otherwise be excluded.

Our secondary mission is to improve and defend the rights of women with disabilities. We look at both the medium- and long-term efforts to improve their position, using SDGs 1, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 as our guiding framework.

About our Social Enterprise & Association

As Morocco does not have a legislative framework for social enterprises where for-profit aspects of a company can be used to fund non-profit elements, Alnour Association – providing the services (e.g., health care, day care, meals) that allow the women to work – needed to be separated from the Alnour social enterprise.

In other words, as ‘social enterprises’ are not recognized in Morocco, the establishment of Alnour Association is required to manage all social services. As the association works to become financially independent, the company continues to pay for social services directly (not through the association).
